Ingredients
- 7 c. unbleached flour
- 1 c. quick rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tbsp. melted butter
- 1 quart. buttermilk
Instructions
- For brown bread, substitute whole wheat flour.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Place all dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.
- Make a well in center of dry ingredients.
- Add in buttermilk and melted butter, mixing from center out.
- Blend all ingredients (don't beat).
- Turn on lightly floured board and knead 10 times into round loaf.
- Place on greased pan and X in center with sharp knife.
- Bake 10 min at 425 degrees.
- Reduce to 375 degrees; bake additional 45 min or possibly till toothpick comes out clean.
