Scottish Skirlie
Ingredients
- 14 cup dripping
- 1 large onion
- peeled and finely chopped
- 23 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
- salt and pepper
- mashed potatoes
Instructions
- Melt the drippings.
- Add onion and fry slowly, stirring occasionally until evenly brown.
- Stir in enough oatmeal to absorb the fat.
- Add seasoning and cook for about 10-15 minutes until throughly cooked.
- Serve with mashed potatoes.
- Uncooked, it can be used as a stuffing for chicken.
