Ingredients
- 150 grams margarine
- 200 grams flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 250 grams sugar
- 2 oranges
- 5 eggs
- 250 grams sugar
- 3 oranges
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 C
- line a bunt cake pan with margarine and flour
- in a medium size bowl, beat the egg yolks with 200 grams of sugar.
- Beat it until fluffy
- add the margarine, the orange juice, and grated peel of one of the oranges
- beat with electric mixer, stir the baking powder into the flour, and than add it to the mixture
- in another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
- add the rest of the 50 grams of sugar and beat until forms high peaks
- gently fold the egg white mix into the yolk mixture
- place in oven for 45 minutes or if tooth pick comes out clean
- while cake is baking, prepare syrup by caramalizing the sugar with the orange juice to a boil
- when cake is ready, remove it from the pan and poke some holes around it with a fork while the cake is still hot.
- Than pour the syrup on top
- optional: can sprinkle grated orange peel on the top
