Polish Egg Bread French Toast

Ingredients

  • 8 1/2 inch thick slices of egg bread
  • 1 1/2 cup half and half
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 dash allspice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • divided

Instructions

  1. Here is the recipe for the egg bread.
  2. It is best to make the day before.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  4. In a large deep sided platter, mix the half and half, eggs, yolk, cinnamon, sugar and allspice.
  5. Mix this very well.
  6. Soak each 1/2 inch slice of bread in mixture for 30 seconds each side.
  7. Add four slices and cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. You want a golden color on the bread.
  9. Cook up second batch with the other half of butter.
  10. One tablespoon worth.
  11. Cook again for 2-3 minutes per side.
  12. Serve with some bacon, sausages.
  13. Drizzle with syrup or honey.
