Ingredients
- 3 whole Sardines
- Boneless And Skinless
- 1 slice Texas Toast
- Toasted
- Or Standard Sandwich Slice
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
- 1/4 cups Thinly Sliced Red Onion
- 1/4 whole Lemon
- Lightly Squeezed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place sardines on an oven safe plate and put in the oven while it preheats, to warm through.
- Place bread in the toaster.
- Remove from the toaster and slather on Dijon mustard from edge to edge.
- Place half the sliced onions on the mustard.
- Remove sardines from the oven and arrange them on the toast.
- Place remaining onion on the sardines, and squeeze a bit of lemon over the top.
- The sardines themselves lend a similar flavor and texture to what you might expect from tuna, but possibly better in this case.
- The slight bite of onion along with the tangy lemon and mustard makes every bite memorable, especially with the crunch of the toast.
