Mystic Seaport Strawberries N' Champagne Punch

Ingredients

• 1 quart fresh strawberries
• hulled and sliced
• 14-12 cup superfine sugar
• 1 (750 ml) bottle dry white wine
• 1 cup kirsch
• 4 (750 ml) bottles champagne
• chilled
• ice ring with strawberry (optional. directions follow)

Instructions

1. Place strawberries in a bowl with sugar and white wine.
2. Let stand for 2-3 hours to mellow.
3. In a punch bowl, place ice ring (directions below) or large block of ice.
4. Add strawberry mixture, Kirsch and champagne.
5. TO MAKE STRAWBERRY ICE RING:
6. Place strawberries in an ice ring mold.
7. Fill ice ring with water and freeze.
