Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 12 cup brown rice
  • 12 cup pearl barley
  • rinsed thoroughly
  • 12 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 12 cup Bulgar wheat (cracked wheat)
  • 12 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 14 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 12 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a large pan over medium-high heat bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add in the next 8 ingredients; stir to mix.
  3. Lower heat to low and simmer, covered for ABOUT 40 minutes or until grains are tender and water is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
  4. Sprinkle with walnuts.
