Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 14 teaspoon salt
- to taste
- 18 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- to taste
- 1 12 cups milk
- 3 (14 ounce) jarswhole baby onions
- rinsed and drained
- 1 scallion
- sliced
- for garnish
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large saucepan.
- Stir in flour and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and frothy.
- Let bubble 2 minutes, sitrring often, to prevent browning.
- Add mustard, salt and cayenne pepper, sitrring well.
- Add milk, stirring, and bbring to a boil over medium heat.
- Cook 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until thickened slightly.
- Add onions and cook 1-2 minutes more, just to heat through, stirring.
- Serve with scallion sprinled on top.
