Ingredients
- 8 oz. unsalted butter
- 4 oz. sugar
- 1 lb. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 4 oz. ground almonds
- 1 dash salt
- 1 egg yolk
- beaten
- 4 oz. powdered sugar
- Rose water
- 2 tsp. brandy
Instructions
- beat the butter with the regular sugar until white and creamy.
- Add the brandy and the beaten egg yolk, followed by the sieved cake flour, baking soda, salt and ground almonds.
- Knead well for a few minutes and form into balls the size of an egg.
- Flatten slightly onto a greased baking sheet and bake in a cool oven until firm and crisp but not brown.
- While still warm from the oven sprinkle each one with rose water and then liberally with powdered sugar
