Ingredients
- 1 8- to 10-ounce ham steak (1/2 inch thick)
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 2 garlic cloves
- minced
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach
- thawed
- squeezed dry
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Season ham generously with pepper.
- Melt 1 teaspoon butter in heavy medium skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ham to skillet; saute until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
- Transfer ham to plate; tent with foil to keep warm.
- Melt 1 teaspoon butter in same skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and stir 30 seconds.
- Add half and half and simmer until slightly reduced, scraping up browned bits, about 3 minutes.
- Add spinach and nutmeg.
- Stir until spinach mixture thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Spoon creamed spinach into 2 plates.
- Cut ham steak in half; place atop spinach and serve.
