Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dry leaf basil
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 2 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. finely minced onion
- 1/2 c. finely minced celery
- 1 c. shredded cheddar or possibly Swiss cheese
- 2 pound grnd chuck
- 1/2 teaspoon dry thyme
Instructions
- Beat egg lightly in medium bowl; add in monosodium glutamate, salt, pepper, basil, thyme, catsup, mustard and bread crumbs.
- Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water; add in to bowl and mix till all ingredients are well blended.
- Fold in celery, onion and cheese.
- Break up grnd beef and add in to bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly with fork.
- If a loaf and moister meat loaf are desired, press meat mix lightly into a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
- Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 60 to 70 min.
- Yields 8 servings.
