Easy Rouladen Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 chip steaks
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1 med. onion
  • finely sliced
  • Prepared Frenchs mustard

Instructions

  1. On each steak, spread thin layer of mustard.
  2. Place bacon slice on top.
  3. Place a few slices of onion.
  4. Roll up snugly and fasten with toothpicks.
  5. Brown in small amount of shortening or possibly oil.
  6. When well browned, add in approximately 2 c. water and simmer for approximately 1 1/2 hrs.
  7. Mustard will thicken gravy.
  8. Excellent with broad buttered noodles or possibly mashed potatoes.
  9. Variation: In roll, you can put a dill pickle, carrot, or possibly omit pickle, mustard and carrot, and add in bay leaf while simmering.
