Ingredients

  • 1 lb (.5 kg). ground beef
  • 1 lb (.5 kg). bulk sausage
  • salt and pepper
  • to taste
  • 3/4 cup (175 ml) crumbled corn flakes
  • cracker or bread crumbs
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) garlic powder
  • 1 onion
  • chopped
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) oil
  • 5 medium potatoes
  • fixed like hashbrowns or shoestring potatoes

Instructions

  1. Put a large Dutch Oven on a medium heated burner and add the 2 tbsp (30 ml) oil.
  2. Let it get hot.
  3. In the mean time, mix together the meat, salt, pepper, crumbs, eggs, garlic powder, and onion throughly and make into a firm round patty.
  4. Put the patty into the Dutch Oven with the hot oil.
  5. You should have about 1 to 1 1/2 inch left all around the patty.
  6. While browning the patty, peel and slice or dice the potatoes and set aside.
  7. Carefully flip the meat patty over and then add the potatoes around the meat patty.
  8. Cover the Dutch Oven with the lid and cook on medium-low heat for 50 to 60 Minutes.
  9. NOTE: You could probably use a 2 lbs (.9 kg).
  10. bag frozen shredded hashbrowns, but thaw them out first.
