Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- all-purpose
- 13 cup sugar granulated
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter unsalted
- chilled
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest grated
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips miniature
- 1 each egg whites mixed with
- 1/2 cup water for glaze
- optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees; butter a 9-inch circle in the center of a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Cut the butter into 1/2-inch ted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the baking sheet to a wire rack and cool for 10 minutes.
- With a spatula, transfer the scones to a wire rack to cool.
- Recut into wedges if necessary.
