Caramelized Onion & Bacon Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/4 cup Land O Lakes Butter
  • 1 medium (1/2 cup) onion
  • chopped
  • 1 teaspoon firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 pounds Brussels sprouts
  • trimmed
  • halved lengthwise

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in medium nonstick skillet until crisp.
  2. Drain.
  3. Crumble; set aside.
  4. Discard bacon drippings.
  5. In same skillet, melt butter over medium heat; add onion and sugar.
  6. Cook 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender and caramelized.
  7. Meanwhile, place Brussels sprouts in 3-quart saucepan; add 1 inch of water.
  8. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  9. Cover; reduce heat to low.
  10. Cook 8-10 minutes until tender.
  11. Drain well.
  12. Add Brussels sprouts to onion in skillet; toss to coat.
  13. Cook over medium heat until heated through.
  14. Sprinkle with bacon.
