Ingredients
- 3 bunches fresh turnip greens
- 1 pound bacon ends of salt pork
- 2 red pepper pods
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 garlic clove; optional
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 quart. water
Instructions
- Wash green thoroughly, cut away tough stems.
- Chop greens in small pcs.
- Cut bacon or possibly salt pork in small pcs.
- Put water in pot and boil slowly.
- Add in pepper pods, sugar, salt, and garlic, and minced greens.
- Cook till tender.
- Turnips may be peeled and cooked with greens if you like.
- Serve with corn bread.
