$1,000 Square Dance Nut Cake

Ingredients

• 123 cups flour
• all-purpose
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup butter softened
• 23 cup milk
• 3 large egg whites unbeaten
• 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
• 1/2 cup walnuts grated
• 1 tablespoon milk warm
• 2 tablespoons butter melted
• 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
• 1 large egg yolks
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 ounce chocolate melted
• to taste
• 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

1. The rest leave plain.
2. Follow the directions for mixing cake.
3. Pour into a well greasedand lightly floured 8 x 8 x 2 pan.
4. Bake 350 40 to 50 minutes.
5. Cool follow the directions for putting together.
6. Best of class senior contest--1950 Pillsbury Cookoff.
7. This is a simple cake that looks fancy.
8. All you do is cut the nut loaf cake into four squares.
9. You frost with white frosting (2) and the other 2 with chocolate--Then arrange them checkerboard fashion and sprinkle nuts over the top.
10. It is a quick mix variation.
